This is out of order, but worth going back and telling the story.

Pretty much anytime I'm restoring something that has been sitting for years I always find some place where the mice were living for a while. #448 is no different. As I was removing the front platen from the press I noticed a mouse nest under the throw off part of the platen. Looking at the top of the platen here you can see the workings of the throw off and it's adjustments. Really some neat workings. You can see just a little bit of the mouse nest in this picture.

Looking at the face of the platen you can see the upper and lower throw off mechanics, and an even better look at how much the mice hauled in to make their little home in #448.

Here's where it gets good.  Looking closer....one mouse decided #448 was more than just a good home. With all the spider webs on this press maybe this is Templeton.
